Imagine a stack of papers. But these aren’t papers. They’re worlds. Each one existing in the same space and time
Now, imagine these parallel worlds are the Sims worlds. The complete collection of all the maps we have and will have in the future. They all start with the same people, places, everything’s identical. Until a decision is made that forks them off into different directions. Each new decision creates a new paper/world on the stack.
Okay, so we’ve got our stack of worlds right? Now, what if someone somehow found themselves in another world not their own. A world very different from what they know and they become obsessed with finding their way back. Bea’s grandfather’s obsession inadvertently created a tear between the worlds. Like if you took a pencil and drove it through your stack of papers.
In that moment when the cataclysm happened all of the worlds flashed in and out of each other leaving their mark on the others. Not much has changed since that day. Until now. Something has happened that will strengthen the tear between the worlds causing some of them to overlap.
And so, a multiverse is born. Everything beyond this explanation will be in story form. If you’re not familiar with Ash Shore and Stratus Burne I highly suggest reading the following. None of them are long it shouldn’t take much time.
